uk live-in jobs with physically disabled adults and children as gap year and volunteering programs
Description :-
We specialise in supporting adults with a high level spinal cord injury but also support people with progressive and neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease and Muscular Dystrophy. In 2006 we extended our service to support children and young adults.
Working as a live-in carer with Active Assistance, a leading specialist care agency, is the ideal role for those people looking for rewarding and flexible care work in the UK. It is a really rewarding care job as you are working with adults and children who are paralysed as a result of a spinal cord injury.
A live-in care job with Active Assistance is based on pre-arranged assignments throughout the UK so you can choose when to work and when not to. When you are working the client provides free food & accommodation. When you are not working you can stay, subject to availability, in our staff accommodation!
As a leading specialist care agency, our philosophy is to enable our physically disabled clients to live independently at home by providing a fully trained live-in carer to support them in their own home. That's why we refer to our care staff as PAs and not carers because your role is to work under the direction of the client.
Unlike many domiciliary care agencies, we employ a Nursing Team who supervise the service we provide to our clients and support our PAs. Each member of our Nursing Team has specialist skills and knowledge relevant to the client group we support.
The role of the PA is to work on a live-in basis with our physically disabled clients, assisting them with everyday tasks. Care assistant jobs last between one and three weeks and the care work may include getting the client in and out of bed, washing, dressing, cooking, cleaning, shopping, personal care, toileting and general household tasks. It may also be necessary to drive the clients vehicle and accompany them to work, social events, appointments or even on holiday. For more detail on the PA role and care work with Active Assistance please read the job description.
Active Assistance provides comprehensive training in care work, so no previous experience of care work is necessary, although it is essential to have the desire to be involved in a truly rewarding and socially minded career. There are also opportunities to study towards formal qualifications in care work leading to opportunities to apply for more senior care assistant jobs.
Active Assistance has lots of great live-in care jobs throughout the UK. It is really rewarding care work as you would be working with adults and children who are paralysed as a result of a spinal cord injury.
Because our service operates throughout England and Wales, there is lots of opportunity for travel whilst working with us.
